Hi, I’m Deborah Bates, a qualified counsellor and creative mentor with experience supporting participants to build life skills, manage challenges, and achieve personal goals. I provide one-on-one sessions via phone or video, offering a flexible and personalised approach that fits each participant’s needs.
I specialise in psychosocial support, life skills development, creative mentoring, and emotional wellbeing. While I do not provide clinical psychiatric care, I work alongside participants’ mental health professionals to complement their support.
I also bring experience as a community and youth worker, supporting socially disadvantaged participants with life skills, career and vocational guidance, and personalised planning.
I’m also a harpist and published author, and I incorporate creativity into my mentoring to inspire personal growth and self-expression.
My work has been recognised through national award nominations, including the Innovation Award for the ‘Write to Heal’ workshop, Australia Day Citizen of the Year (Gold Coast), and invitations to speak at national and international events.
I am passionate about empowering participants to develop confidence, coping strategies, and practical skills to enhance their daily life and independence. Sessions are designed to be engaging, practical, and tailored to each individual’s goals.
I work with self-managed and plan-managed participants. NDIS-compliant rates apply, with private/specialised sessions available on request.
